Midterm Elections – What You Need to Know

Election season is upon us. Candidates and volunteers are starting to canvass and phone bank heavily in our district. Your 6th District Democratic Party would like to remind you of some things to keep this election season running smoothly.

Early voting begins Wednesday October 17, 2018. If you do not know where your early voting sites are, contact your county’s Democratic Party and they will steer you in the right direction. Alternately, you may call your county’s Board of Elections. There is a list of addresses and phone numbers at this link.

If you would like campaign signs for your local, state, and federal candidates, or if you would like to help with the election by canvassing, phone banking, stuffing envelopes, writing postcards, or any of the numerous things your county party needs during this busy time, contact your local Democratic Party. They will provide you with signs, connect you with a group to canvass with or just put you to work. Volunteers are the lifeblood of every campaign, so please, give of your time if you are able.

PLEASE NOTE: According to NC elections laws, campaign signs may not be placed on public property or in the highway right-of-way until September 17, 2018 (30 days before early voting begins). Campaign signs may be placed on private property at any time. Please make sure that your signs are on private property, with permission from the owner of that property until September 17th. Please check with your local municipal government or your county’s Board of Elections for any other city-specific laws pertaining to the placement and size of campaign signs.
